Waking up to the pitter patter of rain against my window,
made me in the "mood" for a HOT BREAKFAST! :)

I have been making MY french toast recipe for some time.
And thought is was time to maybe share it with others.

In a shallow dish beat together:
5 Lg. eggs
1 tsp. Fresh Orange zest
1 TBSP. Orange juice
1/4 C. Milk
Cinnamon

*use as much cinnamon as you like.

In another small bowl mix together: 1/4 C. sugar & 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon

Dip each piece of bread in egg mixture and place on hot skillet.
On the "raw" side of bread sprinkle some of the Cinn./Sugar onto it.
Let each side cook for a minute or so.

Serve with powdered sugar & warm maple syrup.

My recipes are now a weekly feature on the web.

Go take a look at "OUR" Lincoln County web site.

www.lccentral.com

Ben Rowley (a local computer goo-ru) has now given our "little town"
a voice on the web. :) He is doing a wonderful job of it too!

I am so glad I get to be a part of this. Every week I will be posting a
new RECIPE OF THE WEEK. If you have a certain recipe your looking for
leave me a comment there and I will do my best to add it to the list.

Help support a "local" & encourage other's to add the site to there favorites!

My New Cook Book Cabinet, my hubby made me!

As many of you know, I am addicted to Cook Book's!

This has made storing of my many cook book's a bit of
a problem. I was running out of space!

Seeing how my husband is a carpenter....I am always looking
for pictures of items I want him to build me.
However my "wish list" of items is very BIG. (lol)

And he is always asking me where I think I am gonna find the room
to put these many items once he builds them for me.
So I sit and wish for a bigger house. Oh sorry I got off on a
little side trip there. Any how he never tells me no when I come to
him with another project. So for the past month I have been hinting
about needing another (yes I said another, I already had 2) cook book
cabinet. And just look at what he built me yesterday on his day off!

Another cabinet my hubby made for me!

Matt (that's the hubby) is so good at what he does!

He can take a description I give him and make that image into
a work of art made out of wood. I love being able to tell him
or show him a picture of what I want and he makes it.

Yes, ladies he can make anything you see in a catalog or on
the computer. And YES he does do side job's. :)

Crock Pot Chicken Mess

Have you ever heard of a "Pantry Meal"?

If not, it is just basically that...anything put together to make a dish
by using items in your pantry. That is how I came up with this meal.

At my home chicken, rice, soup are items I ALWAYS have on hand.
This recipe is quick to put together. And if you don't want to wait to make
it using your crock pot, you can always just throw it in the oven to bake.

I LOVE using my crock pot. So I am always making something that I
can have cooking through out the day as I do my "to do list".

Also you can use Fat free product's in this dish.
( I am so use to cooking with F.F. ingredients, I forget to mention
that when I give out a recipe.)

What you'll need:

1 (8 oz.) Sour Cream
1 (10.5 oz) can of Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 C. Milk or water
1 (8 oz. ) Cream Cheese
1/4 C. finely diced Onion
1 C. fresh sliced Mushroom's
2 TBSP. Margarine
4 Skinless boneless Chicken Breast's: cut into pieces
Salt & Pepper to taste
4 C. cooked Brown or White rice

In a mixing bowl place the cut up chicken, sour cream, soup and milk.
Place the diced onion, mushroom's and margarine in a small pan and saute until tender.
When done add to the chicken mixture stir until all coated.
Pour into your crock pot. Cook on low for 4 hrs. or on high for 6 hrs.
The last 45 minutes of cooking add in the cream cheese, cut into small cubes.

If you want to bake in the oven, preheat to 350 and bake for 45 minutes.
Or until chicken is cooked through. Add in cream cheese that has been
cut into small cubes. Bake for another 10 minutes.

To serve, place the cooked rice onto a plate and then spoon over the chicken mixture.
*variation: you can also change out the rice for cooked pasta noodles*

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

So Valentines day has never been one of my favorite holiday's.
I mean when your Single,... you hope someone will remember you.
When your married...you hope your Husband will remember you.
And when you become a Mother....you hope your child will remember you.

So I decided when my daughter was old enough to really enjoy the meaning of Valentines
Day, I (and husband) would make the holiday about her.

Therefore the 14 Day's of Valentines was born.
Starting on Feb. 1st. we would give her a Valentine every day.
Some years we gave her a puzzle piece in each valentine, that by the 14th day
would make a picture of what she would get. ( like a picture of a purse...then we would give her a new purse on Valentines Day).
Other times we would spell out the gift, and include 1 letter in each valentine.
And like this year we just attached a candy bar to the valentine each day....no underlining meaning, just a treat. And this morning she received her "big" gift.
Making Valentines day about "her" makes me feel good and shows her how much (we)
thought about her. Usually My husband and I exchange cards and some years gifts.
He will usually take me to dinner. I usually make Cream Puff's for a special dessert.
So what I am saying here is....Make Valentines a Day a day YOU enjoy, weather you are the one giving or receiving. It will make it a fun holiday to look forward to every year!

Now....saying that LOOK what my hubby gave to me this year! :)

MY NEW Kitchen Tool

I have always wanted a food processor.

But I didnt want a big, bulky machine I have no room to store.

Plus I really don't want to have to lug out a appliance to crush up 1/4 c bread crumbs.

It would be easier to just do it by hand.

So when I saw this little cutie I new IT WAS THE ONE!

I was only worried about what the price would be?...

Well LISTEN UP!!!!! I bought this wonderful new toy at Costco for $24.00!

REALLY! I am NOT kidding.

GO...what are you doing still sitting there?

Go get one, right now! Hurry...I bet at that hot price, they wont last long!

Julie & Julia

Ok....I know this movie has been out for a while, but I just didn't find the time to watch it until today! And maybe it is the "chef" in me, because I really liked it! :)

And since I am in the middle of typing up recipes for
a cook book project I am doing, it made me want to just get my project done!

Some slow parts in the movie. But if you really do love to cook, bake or if your a blogger....you will "GET" it.

Sit down and enjoy the fun light mood of this flick.
Let me know what you think.
