My Retro Popcorn Popper

Isn't this so cool?
I LOVE it.... I received this from a friend (Bob & Sharon)
My husband just brought it home one day from work, saying Bob told him to give it to me, since I like to make treats. :)  Ahhh what a guy.
And let me tell you I have been popping away.
What I really love about this popper is that it is an AIR popper!
I know it looks like one of those oil cookers, but it's not.
Aren't you all envious?

Car Wash to aid the Japan Red Cross

Today my Daughters Middle School held a community Car Wash.
All proceeds will go to Japan's Red Cross. To help aid all those in need.

You know most kid's don't like to wash cars. Let alone do it with out getting paid.
However these kid's were happy to do this service project.

My daughter has been talking about it for a week, asking if I would be able to bring down the truck to let her & her classmates wash it. And I have to say They weren't asking to much either...$10.00 a car / $15.00 a Truck

I was more than happy to give that donation. And so many others were also.....in fact there were so many car's waiting to be washed they ended up calling you at home to tell you when to come back  :)

And as you can see by the picture's the kids WERE working.
And having fun doing it!

I for one am very proud of our Middle School for "stepping up" and thinking of a great way to give and let the kids get involved.  THANK YOU!

I didn't make it.  I had a long day yesterday. And an even longer night! I didn't get  more than 4 hours of sleep. And when that happens it seems as if the whole day is a  LAZY one!
So I am blog surfing and recipe hunting this morning.
I have to tell you all, it has been  harder than I thought to choose my

I will make a decision by tonight!

I thought I would share a recipe I have posted on the Tasty Kitchen..just click on the link under the picture. (and doesn't this picture make your mouth water?!)

Wedding Weekend

This past weekend was a little busy. A good friend of mine (Jamie) was in charge of her Nephew's wedding reception. Now she has been working on this for a couple of months. I helped out where she needed it, but basically SHE was the wedding planner!

There was a Milk & Cookie Bar for refreshments...It looked so nice!
There was stir sticks, syrup and powder mix in's of every flavor you can think of.
Plus about 12 different kinds of cookies.
With bakery bags to fill to take home.
And Mini- Milk Cartons filled with mini cookies (the bride & groom's favorite: Choc. chip & Oreo's)

SO NICE & DIFFERENT!!!

"Dig" into Spring with Service!...

I was just asked to be a Visiting Teacher, now for  those of you who don't know what that is....It is something that the church I belong to ask's the ladies to do once a month. Where basically you get to go "visit" other ladies and see if there is anything you could help with or make the Bishop aware of  in times of need. And a big PLUS to this...is the friendship's you make.
You go visit with a "topic" or lesson that has been highlighted for that month. This month it was "how to be a better V.T.".
My friend and I chose SERVICE as our theme. Since it is something we both enjoy doing.

We came up with this cute Spring pail.

I made up some of my "famous" White Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn" filled the pail to make the "soil" added a fun colorful windmill as the "flower". Tied some garden gloves to the back and added a cute thought on service.

Homemade "Napa Valley" Crackers

I named these crackers this because even though I don't drink wine...
I can see these "up scale" crackers plated along side some
fresh fruit and cheese at a Napa Valley Winery.

Simple to make.
And several different cheese/herb combination's
you can make to fit every one's taste bud's.

Add together in a mixing bowl:

1/4 C. Margarine or Butter: softened
2 C. Fresh grated cheese *options below*
1 tsp. Fresh chopped herbs * options below*
1/2 tsp. pepper
dash of curry or Oregano

Blend until smooth then add the following:

1 1/4 C. Flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix well until all ingredients are blended.
Then shape into a log about 2 inches round.
Place on plastic wrap and roll tightly.
This needs to chill in freezer for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350.
Take chilled dough out of freezer and cut into slices.
Lay down on a lightly greased
cookie sheet.
(when cutting the edges of the cracker may crumble,
 just push back together
with your hands.
They will cook up just fine.)
Bake these for 11 minutes, then flip crackers to
other side and continue to bake another 11 min.
Let crackers cool on a foil lined counter for 15 minutes.

**Cheese/herb combinations**

Parmesan--Chives
Asiago- Thyme
Cheddar-Bacon
Pepper jack-Cilantro
Cheddar-Basil

CHICKEN FRIED STEAK --MY WAY!

I haven't made this meal for so long. As I was looking in the meat section of our hometown store, I noticed the cubed steaks. Heck the price you could not beat. I bought 3 nice sized steak's for around $1.80 a piece! I am NOT kidding. And now I wonder why I dont fix these more often....Ok other that the calorie count and the fact that they are fried. Still they are GOOD!

Beat together: 2 Lg. Egg's
1/2 C. Milk

In another dish add:
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. curry powder
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. season salt
1 tsp. pepper
Mix until well blended.

Start by dipping the cubed steak into the egg wash.
And then into the flour mixture, coating each side.
Repeat again. In a large skillet, pour 1/2-3/4 C. canola oil.
Cook on med. heat. Fry each steak for 2 1/2 minutes on each side.
Drain on a paper towel. Keep warm until you are ready to serve.
